Jeanie Dennison Cupp

Background

A native of Atlanta, Jeanie joined the firm’s Harrisonburg office in 2019, after many years of experience as a practicing attorney in North Carolina and Virginia. She assists in litigation of complex employment discrimination matters in state and federal courts. Her many contributions include case management and writing analytical documents to support cases.

Throughout her career, Jeanie has worked to help the most vulnerable in our society. Most recently, she served as a Disability Claims Adjudicator 3 for the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services. In this position, she reviewed and analyzed Social Security adult disability claims, and prepared written analyses of evidence to support recommendation of disability determination.

Before that, Jeanie had her own firm in Harrisonburg, where she represented the interests of incapacitated adults as guardian ad litem in legal proceedings. She also worked as an Advocate Manager for CASA for Children. In this role, she recruited, screened, trained and supervised community volunteers to serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates in Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court for children in foster care.

She previously worked with her husband, Tim, as an Attorney and Shareholder with Cupp & Cupp, P.C. Her practice focused on estate planning, guardianships, conservatorships, custody, visitation, and other civil litigation matters in state and federal courts. She often represented the interests of incapacitated adults and children as guardian ad litem in Circuit Court and Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. She also assisted with complex employment litigation and handled all aspects of office operation, case management, billing, bookkeeping and payroll.

“When I worked as a guardian ad litem, I served as the voice in court for incapacitated adults who couldn’t speak for themselves. These days, my work involves giving employees who have been treated unfairly a chance to be heard. I’ve found both experiences tremendously rewarding.”
